The major issues and consequences of the rapid urbanisation of African cities
Africa is expected to be the most rapidly urbanising region on the planet between 2020 and 2050. This will give rise to a number of opportunities but could also magnify the urban issues already evident on the continent. This card set is collection of best practice solutions and case studies that seek to address three critical challenges facing cities in Africa: inadequate housing, lack of access to safe water and poor transport infrastructure. The aim is to initiate a conversation around more context-specific urban issues and to build a collective understanding of the value of total design.
