Building Design 2020
This report identifies overarching trends affecting the building design industry as a whole, as well as case studies of current solutions and innovations. We found that rather than being a simple question of the latest technological or material advancements, the future of building design requires a careful consideration of how tools, practice and their integration will fit into an evolving local and global context. In the coming decade, building design will be shaped by developments in the key areas of people, technologies and systems. An increasingly networked, specialised, and fluid workforce is reshaping our internal and external relationships. Technologies from other industries in both the design and construction of buildings are changing the processes and projects we undertake. Urbanisation and connectivity will transform the broader landscape of the built environment in the developed and developing world alike.
